CMA CGM said that from April 2024, CMA CGM will operate NRX (North Red Sea Express ), a joint upgraded service connecting Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt, to expand logistics capabilities in the northern Red Sea and consolidate Saudi Arabia's growing strategic position as a global logistics hub. The service will be operated in partnership with Folk Maritime.

The weekly service on the NRX route will be provided by two smaller container ship operations, with the first sailing departing from Jeddah on 9 April 2024 by M/V JIN SHUN HE.

The port rotation of NRX route is: Jeddah RSGT – Jeddah DPW – NEOM – Sokhna – Aqaba – Yanbu – Jeddah RSGT

The NRX service will meet the needs of customers seeking growth in these key regional ports. It will also help reduce carbon emissions by providing a reliable and efficient alternative marine solution between Jeddah, NEOM and Yanbu.

Olivier Nivoix, Executive Vice President of CMA CGM, said in a statement: “CMA CGM is pleased to partner with Folk Maritime to connect the Port of Jeddah to the growing market demand of Neom and other key ports in the northern Red Sea by delivering this upgraded service. .”

It is reported that Folk Maritime was just established at the end of February this year, with former Hamburg Süd CEO Poul Hestbæk as CEO. The Riyadh-based new shipping company Folk Maritime defines itself as Saudi Arabia’s first dedicated feeder operator, connecting the kingdom with other major ports on the Red Sea to serve the Middle East and beyond.
