On March 12, local time, Argentine presidential spokesman Adoni announced that the Argentine government has ordered the opening of food and medicine imports among household necessities, aiming to cope with the current inflation situation and achieve "competitive prices."
Adoni said the measure would benefit Argentine households and consumers by making prices more competitive and would reduce taxes on these imported products.
This opening-up measure complements a series of new economic policies announced by the Argentine government in December last year, aiming to normalize trade and comply with international rules of the World Trade Organization.
